The East County Senior Coalition is open to all East Contra Costa County senior citizens and those working on their behalf.
Our Vision & Mission
The East County Senior Coalition seeks to address the issues and needs of seniors and their support systems, advocate for solutions, and educate the community about aging services.
History
The Advisory Council on Aging requested that Senior Coalitions be formed in Contra Costa County. Contra Costa Area Agency on Aging staff and other key individuals worked together to begin West, Central, and East County Senior Coalitions.
Invitations went out to 84 individuals, professionals, community advocates, and consumers in East Contra Costa County to attend the first meeting on October 11, 2000.
This group developed a vision statement and came up with key topics for future meetings based on the known needs of the communities. We would act as an Advocacy group including Professionals and community-oriented individuals.
Area Agency on Aging staff provide ongoing support to the coalition.
